Rory McIlroy shaping up ahead of Masters challenge

McIlroy stays six shots off the lead at Augusta National

Rory McIlroy is six shots off the lead heading into the Masters, but the four-time major winner is in good form and will be confident of challenging for the title.

The Northern Irishman carded a two-under 70 in the first round at Augusta National on Thursday, leaving him six behind early leader Scottie Scheffler.

McIlroy has been in impressive form in recent months, winning the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March and finishing second at the Players Championship last week.

He will be looking to add to his four major titles at the Masters, which he won in 2011 and 2014.
