Bayern Munich Thrash Wolfsburg 5-1 in Bundesliga Matchday 6

Lewandowski Scores Five Goals in Historic Nine-Minute Span

Munich, Germany – September 22, 2015

In a stunning display of attacking prowess, Bayern Munich defeated VfL Wolfsburg 5-1 on Tuesday in a German Bundesliga match at Allianz Arena. The highlight of the night was Robert Lewandowski's incredible performance, as the Polish striker scored five goals in a nine-minute span in the second half.

The game started slowly, with neither team able to create many clear-cut chances. However, Lewandowski broke the deadlock in the 51st minute with a close-range finish. Just one minute later, he doubled Bayern's lead with a header from a corner kick. In the 55th minute, Lewandowski completed his hat-trick with a delightful chip over Wolfsburg goalkeeper Koen Casteels.

Lewandowski's goalscoring spree continued in the 57th minute, as he tapped in a rebound to make it 4-0. The Polish striker then sealed his historic performance in the 60th minute with a stunning volley from outside the box. It was Lewandowski's first five-goal haul in a Bundesliga match and the fastest five goals ever scored in the German top flight.

Wolfsburg pulled one back through Kevin De Bruyne in the 70th minute, but it was nothing more than a consolation goal. Bayern dominated the match from start to finish and thoroughly deserved the victory.

The win moves Bayern to the top of the Bundesliga table, while Wolfsburg drop to seventh. The Bavarians will be looking to continue their impressive form when they host Borussia Dortmund in their next match on Saturday.
